GALLIPOLI SCHOLARSHIP
What is the Gallipoli Scholarship?
The Gallipoli Scholarship has $6000 scholarships available for first year University and TAFE students. Open to direct descendants of an Australian or New Zealand serviceman or woman who has served in any conflict or peacekeeping operation from the First World War to the present day.
The Gallipoli Scholarship has been in existence for nearly 25 years, with preliminary planning starting in February 1996. The first Scholarships were granted in April 1998 to two New South Wales students undertaking their first year of
University study, Michelle Byrne and Jennifer Downe.
It is interesting to note that Dr. Michelle Byrne is a current member of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund (Inc) and is our Alumni Member. Initially, the Gallipoli scholarship was only available to students from New South Wales and later the
Australian Capital Territory. However, Gallipoli Scholarships are now available for eligible students in all states and territories and New Zealand national’s resident in Australia.
To date, there have been 162 recipients awarded scholarships under the auspices of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund.
